Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the NPRC Executive Secretary and working closely with the VSGD Thematic Committee, the VSGD Unit and UN Women, the Technical Advisor will undertake the following;

Operationalizing the NPRC Gender and Inclusion Policy put in place in pursuit of NPRC Act Section 9.

  1. Technically support the NPRC, in the design and implementation of gender sensitive programmes through providing substantive inputs to the design and formulation of gender mainstreaming work plans, budgets, monitoring and evaluation frameworks;
  2. Advise on and develop strategic initiatives to advance the Commission’s gender mainstreaming objectives;
  3. Provide advice on emerging programming issues from the global and regional gender, peace and security trends, priorities and best practices.

Qualification:

Education

  • Masters’ Degree or its equivalent in any of the following Social Sciences disciplines; Law, Sociology, Transitional Justice, Gender Studies, Anthropology or other social science fields.

Experience

  1. Knowledge of the work of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission.
  2. At least 7 years of experience in programming on gender equality and peacebuilding at a national level or regional level
  3. Experience in formulating gender responsive policy and developing and implementing gender strategies.
  4. Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  5. Experience in research/analytical work in peacebuilding or transitional justice
  6. Knowledge on women’s rights including sub-regional, regional and international instruments on women’s rights.
  7. Previous experience in providing technical support to high level government institutions.

Language

Proficiency in the English, Shona or Ndebele languages. Knowledge of any other language will be an added advantage
