UNMISS Job Vacancy 2024
Org. Setting and Reporting: These positions are located in the Aviation Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) at Bor and Bentiu which are classified in the “E” category and are non-family duty stations. The Air Operations Officers will report to the Chief Air Operations Unit in Juba.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Air Transportation/Aviation Management, Air Traffic Management, Aviation Safety Management, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or graduation from an equivalent military educational establishment is required. A first-level university degree with a relevant combination of education, professional training, certification in air transport, and 2 additional years of experience in air transportation related occupation, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in air transport operations or aviation safety, with at least three (3) years of managerial experience on a position directly related to the coordination of complex strategic air transport operations in the international environment is required.
- Experience in the use of ICAO standards and recommended practices is desirable.
- Experience in managing international air transport operations in a field operation of the United Nations (inclusive of peacekeeping operations, special political missions, agencies, funds and programmes), or of other similar international organizations is desirable.
- Knowledge of UN financial regulations and rules is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
