UNFPA Job Vacancy 2024

You would be responsible for:

  • Participate in the identification and development of community-based women and youth friendly livelihood interventions/strategy for resilience building, a culture of peace, and empowerment of women.
  • Support conducting desk review of existing market assessment reports to identify and recommend appropriate and marketable women friendly business ideas to IPs.
  • Support the implementation of all livelihoods and skills building activities, including identification of beneficiaries, generation of business ideas and distribution of start-up tools.
  • Support capacity building and training on Basic business skills (selection, planning & management), marketing skills, record keeping, dialogue expertise, group formation etc
  • Support Income generating activities (IGA) including group formation and conducting leadership skills training to enhance participation  and accountability for identified  women and youth.
  • Participate in monitoring/follow up of supported women and girls, track progress and provide technical support as may be required.
  • Map and maintain a database of supported groups, types of businesses and skills provided by IPs per location.
  • Provide support to hold regular meetings with IPs on the progress of livelihoods support provided to the beneficiaries.
  • Document success stories, lessons learnt and make recommendations for improvement in livelihood interventions for Women and girls.
  • Provide input in reports, fact sheets and PowerPoint presentations on livelihoods and income generation support for women and girls.
  • Provide support to strengthen feedback and complaints mechanisms needed to identify any risk and concerns associated and mitigation measures with the provision of livelihoods support to women and girls.
  • Support with any other tasks as requested by management.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Be enrolled in a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) and have completed one full academic year.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as master’s programme or higher).
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; or
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme and undertake the internship as part of this programme.

Experience:

  • Some experience in working with development agencies, including in volunteer capacity.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English language is required.
