Key duties & responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up a controlled forages trial trail to compare SOC dynamics in deep-rooted vs shallow-rotted forages.
  • Analyze soils data to compare soil carbon and nitrogen in perennial forages and maize systems.
  • Review existing literature on soil organic carbon dynamics in perennial forages and assist with drafting manuscript sessions.
  • Assist in preparation of input data for running the DSSAT perennial forage model.
  • Support any activity related to the project as required.

Qualification:

  • MSc degree in Soil Science, Climate Change, Environmental Science, or related fields
  • Knowledge of agriculture, climate change, and related environmental issues.
  • Experience in conducting literature reviews.
  • Ability to independently and within a team setting.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with statistical analysis softwares, especially R.
  • Experience with GIS will be an added advantage.
