UNEP Job Vacancy 2023
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction for the implementation and monitoring of UNEP’s Gender Policy and Strategy to address the integration of gender perspectives into UNEP’s Programme of Work and policies, and, ensure its alignment with the UN System Wide Action Plan (UNSWAP) on gender mainstreaming.
- Prepare documents for United Nations Environment Assembly on UNEP’s progress in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment through its programmes and operations.
- Leads team members efforts to collect and analyse data and provides insight to identify trends or patterns for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. Ensures that everyone can discover, access, integrate and share the data they need.
- Perform any other duties as may be required.
Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, environmental sciences, international development or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience, especially at international level on issues related to gender and women’s empowerment and/or gender and environment is required.
- Work experience in mainstreaming gender perspectives into environment and sustainable development issues at all levels is required.
- Work experience on gender issues in an international context in the field of research on gender issues and social safeguards issues, including gender sensitive programming and monitoring is required.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
