How can you make a difference?

The Public Partnership Specialist position’s purpose is to deepen and expand collaboration with key public partners and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence within the scope of the assignment.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  • Implement the work plan for the assigned area, in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results, in accordance with UNICEF’s Sudan partnership and resource mobilization strategy.
  • Provides oversight and coordination support in meeting donor requirements (e.g. reporting and visibility) of SCO’s existing public partnership portfolio.
  • Seeks and promotes new public partnerships and resource mobilization, working with UNICEF colleagues to identify partnership and resource mobilization needs and broker resource mobilization agreements to meet those needs.
  • Receives and screens inquiries from potential collaborators and facilitates communication with appropriate UNICEF staff. Scans and scouts the external environment within designated partnership areas for opportunities and risks and share information in a timely fashion with relevant UNICEF staff.
  • Provides strategic, logistical and programmatic support to senior management and other UNICEF staff in corporate engagement and interaction with assigned partners.

Qualification & Experience:

  • An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field.
  • A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area. Previous experience and/or deep understanding of the UNICEF Sudan donor landscape and programming environment is an asset.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
