Responsibilities

  • Provide support on the crosscutting country / global work streams, including through internal and external reporting as required across the 3 program areas.
  • Establish and maintain communication and alignment mechanisms to ensure activity coordination and successful execution of the respective programs.
  • Support the National Department of Health (NDoH) in all areas of national COVID-19, Oxygen supply efforts, Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response and Health Facility Solar Electrification; this includes planning and implementing various areas of the programs and ensuring CHAI’s ongoing alignment with NDoH strategic goals and priorities.
  • Lead in collecting, capturing, compiling, synthesizing and routinely analysing data to inform the development of assessments, reports and other program materials.
  • Maintain and manage existing databases, dashboards, survey instruments and data collection protocols.
  • Landscape and engage local solar electrification service providers and evaluate their offerings against government HFSE needs, capabilities, and priority areas.
  • Research and evaluate current areas of public-private partnership for HFSE and collaborations within the national health and energy systems.
  • Conduct routine field supervision or assessment visits.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the healthcare and diagnostic landscape related to the medicines and equipment portfolio in South Africa and globally including key priorities, challenges and gaps to inform program development.
  • Manage and establish collaborative relationships with the NDoH/NHLS, suppliers, partner organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the programs in meetings and workshops.
  • Support the Program Manager on key deliverables and ad-hoc requirements, as needed.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public health, epidemiology, business, energy management or related work experience within the NGO/development environment.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including attention to detail and advanced technical proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
  • Willingness to travel within South Africa as needed.
