UNISFA was approved on 27 June 2011 by the United Nations Security Council in United Nations Security Council Resolution 1990 after a flareup in the South Kordofan conflict earlier in June 2011.

UNISFA Job Vacancy 2022
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the Joint Mission Analysis Centre (JMAC) of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), duty station Abyei. The incumbent will report to the Senior Information Analyst (Chief JMAC) or their designate.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, foreign affairs, law or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience and relevant academic/professional qualifications, such as accreditations from military or government command and staff colleges, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, journalism, development, security (military or police) or related field is required.
- Excellent analytical, drafting and briefing skills are required.
- Experience in a UN peacekeeping or other field operation is required.
- A proven track record of management in multi-cultural settings, including management and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams, is desirable.
- Experience supervising or managing teams is desirable.
- Experience working in the geographical region of operations is desirable
- Experience working in an integrated civilian-military-police environment is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable.
