LH project uptake and dissemination activities

Lead on the development and execution of the LH uptake and communications strategy.

To increase uptake of evidence and research in the refugee response, lead on accessibility and dissemination of refugee response evidence, including LH resources:

  • Develop new and innovative channels and approaches to disseminate our work and refugee response learning in general, including through the use of podcasts, interactive stories, blogs etc.
  • In collaboration with the Learning and Dissemination Specialist, support the development and implementation of dissemination plans for the publication of resources or events, including communications plans.
  • Lead on the design, visualization, lay-out, editing and proofreading of LH resources, maintaining a focus on making these as accessible as possible, including through working with specialised consultants.
  • Develop standard templates for resources that are brought out on a regular basis (desk reviews, learning briefs, etc.)

Lead on the conceptualisation and organization of on-line and in person conveners, such as learning events, launches, field visits etc. across the LH portfolio (with support from event management consultants and in close collaboration with the Learning and Dissemination Specialist).

Qualification:

  • A Master’s degree in communication, social sciences, research, policy, journalism or any relevant field. Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in the communications, Knowledge Management (KM), research and/or policy fields
  • International development or humanitarian sector experience
  • Experience managing staff and/or teams with proven leadership and team building skills.
  • Proven experience with developing and executing dissemination and communication plans, incuding experience curating and collating on-line resources, producing content for social media, and organising events
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to tailor products to audience, including ability to summarise and visualize complex resources.
  • Proven experience with developing a network of key stakeholders and the development of policy products, such as policy/evidence briefs, background notes, and talking points & key messages.
  • Proven project management experience (including but not limited to communications, KM, policy or learning activities), managing the project cycle from start to finish: from conceptualisation and development of ToR, plans and timelines; managing budget and project consultants; development and quality assurance of outputs; and implementation of MEAL activities.
  • Prior experience and knowledgeable developing, managing and editing donor-ready communication materials, including sign-off authority.
  • A creative story-teller with highly developed management, interpersonal, networking and communication skills. Keen interest in develop innovative communications approaches
  • Advanced conceptual skills and ability to process large mounts of complex evidence.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and maintain positive attitude, functions well in a dynamic and high paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team. Ability to manage own time and plan and manage own activities with support from manager
  • Pro-active communication: asks for support when needed, identifies and communicates on risks and project delays.
  • Curiosity for innovation management concepts, innovative approaches and new technologies.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Uganda refugee response
  • Working experience with desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign) and/or Publisher, Canva, experience developing Infographics
  • Knowledge of digital analytics and insights: analytics for Facebook and Google etc. HTML/CSS an advantage.
  • Proven experience with influencing and avocacy approaches and methods.
  • Policy experience on the following subjects: refugee self-reliance, refugee participation, the humanitarian/Development Nexus, Market System Development, Private Sector Engagement, Climate and Energy, and Entrepreneurship and Employment
  • Experience with photography and videography editing software
  • Tech-savy, has experience with online tools and programmes such as website development, online google forms, meeting scheduling software etc.
  • Knowledge of USAID and FCDO branding and marking requirements.
