The WaterAid has published a job vacancy announcement on September 26, 2023 for qualified Uganda’s to fill in the vacant post of Policy and Advocacy Officer to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

WaterAid Job Vacancy 2023

Job Purpose

• You will play a crucial role in promoting WaterAid Uganda’s mission of advancing public health and climate resilience in WASH. You will be responsible for developing and implementing advocacy strategies, influencing policy-making processes, and strengthening partnerships to drive positive change.
• You will carry out research, analyze new and existing bilateral and multilateral policies; prepare advocacy documents; research global health, climate change, and international development issues and support the development and implementation of policy recommendations. You will ensure good quality programme work by promoting the intersection of public health and climate resilience in WASH and all learnings are communicated to civil society, government actors, donors and other practitioners to advocate for better practices and policies

• Reports to: Director Policy and Advocacy
• Direct Report (s): NIL

Qualification:

• A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social work, economics, development studies. policy studies, environment/natural resources
• management or equivalent.
• At least five years of relevant practical experience in policy, advocacy and influencing, especially on WASH and public health, and/or environment and
• climate change
• Analytical ability to analyze policies, strategies and can extract advocacy and influential agenda for the WAU.
• Should have competency in WaterAid common approaches to work including partnerships, convening, inclusion, systems strengthening, creating behavioral
• change, and mainstreaming gender and inclusion of youth.
• Experience in, policy/ strategy/ action plan formulation, report/article writing and documentation
• Sound knowledge of integrated WASH and public health and/or water resources management issues, including climate resilient WASH and other related fields.
• Experience in high-level capacity building activities and public speaking.
• Experience building and maintaining partnerships with Government, NGOs and other development partners and the private sector.
• Experience implementing a development programme, policy and advocacy work with government structures at National and Local Government levels.
• Experience working with policy platforms and networks, CSOs and CBO at national, local and community levels.
• Understanding of Rights Based Approach and knowledge of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene issues of Uganda is preferred.
