Tasks and Responsibilities :
- Provide overall technical support and plays a leading role in irrigation system construction and/or rehabilitation including canals, drainages, dams and diversions and flood controls as outlined in the detailed implementation plan and drawings;
- Monitor the progress of construction and rehabilitation of irrigation scheme and ensuring that they are being carried out according to work schedule;
- Provide overall technical and organizational support for irrigation water management and irrigation practices of crops cultivated by beneficiaries;
- Monitor water levels in reservoirs and other sources of water;
- Work with contractors and service providers to the elaboration/revision/modification of the plans and the designs of irrigation systems;
- Inspect and ensuring all the irrigation works are carried out according to approved drawings and quality specifications;
- Contribute to the training and mentoring regarding the use of water in the irrigation system, irrigation practice and technologies for government staff and beneficiaries;
- Contribute to the establishment of water user groups (associations) and Farmer/ agro-pastoral Field Schools; and development group/association bylaws;
- Collect information disaggregated by sex and age composition of targeted households and their family on project activities impact, performance and achievements and success factors and constraints for reporting, sharing, and learning;
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports highlighting any constraints to project implementation and possible solutions to the FAO;
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualification & Experience:
- MSc degree in irrigation engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
