Duties and Responsibilities:
- providing technical advice and support in leading UN System-wide efforts on biodiversity. to: 1. provide technical support to a stocktaking analysis of UN System’s efforts on biodiversity in Indonesia,
- identification of gaps, opportunities and entry points for scaling-up biodiversity-related initiatives,
- development of the UN System’s strategy on biodiversity in Indonesia, and
- provide technical advice and support to the UNRC in Indonesia on biodiversity-related issues. The Supervisor for the consultant is the Head, Biodiversity and Land Branch, Ecosystems Division, UNEP
Qualification & Experience:
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Environmental Sciences, Biology, Environmental Policy, Environmental Management, Environmental Economics, or in a related field.
- Specialized knowledge and skills in the area of biodiversity and ecosystem management in Indonesia and understanding of national and stakeholders required.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in the area of biodiversity and ecosystem management required.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking policy analysis and assessments required.
- Experiences in law and policymaking related to ocean governance desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage
