IGCP Uganda looking for “SHERQ Officer”.

IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional afromontane forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all processes are in place to reduce any form of security threat that may cause harm to the overall operations of the company.
  • Planning, designing, and implementing an overall security strategy and risk management plan for the company by developing operating models and standards.
  • Develop a Country Security Plan
  • Initiate Investigations into corruptive and fraud issues and security incidents related to the company’s operations including visiting the scene of crime to establish facts.
  • Ensure security intelligence information is collated, analyzed, and applied towards ensuring the best protection level for personnel and operations around responsibility.
  • Ensure that threat and vulnerability assessments are carried out, at a period interval, and appropriate remedial actions are advised, implemented, and sustained.
  • Conduct Security Risk Assessments to identify security risks or vulnerabilities that may affect the Company’s profitability and implement cost-effective physical security solutions.
  • Develop relationships within the organization to better understand all of the potential security risks which may cause harm to assets; performance, reputation, continued company growth, and success.
  • Create and direct the implementation of emergency plans and procedures to respond immediately to direct and indirect threats.
  • Ensure that approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are implemented in the area of responsibility.
  • Conduct security spot checks at sites across all regions to ensure security measures are in place for maximum asset protection.
  • Carry out all other lawful tasks as may be assigned in the course of duty in the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain Health & safety awareness across all operations and ensure all employees & contractor’s compliance at all time.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in engineering, security management, environment, social sciences, law etc.
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in the field of asset security in the telecommunications industry.
  • Good understanding of insurance policies.
  • Understanding of criminal procedures, interpreting legal reports & court rulings in Uganda.
  • Good understanding & experience working with government bodies.
  • High ethical standards with proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Relevant experience in HSES management
  • Practical experience in the security of facilities (company security strategy, Risk assessment, preventive actions, investigation, and mitigation).
  • Understanding of ISO certification and procedures is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience driving a manual car is an added advantage.
