Position Purpose

  • The Data Systems and visualization advisor will lead the setting up of the data management systems and visualization components of the GHSA CDC funded program in Uganda. S/he will support the MOH to use the data systems for centralized data warehousing, train MOH and district-based surveillance officers in data collection, analysis, visualization and use. This is a contract position and is renewable annually based on availability of funding and scope of work.

  • Position: Data Systems and Visualization Advisor (GHSA)
  • Department: Global Programs
  • Reports To: Program Manager GHSA
  • Location: Kampala, Uganda
  • Supervises: None
  • Collaborates with: CDC Funded GHSA Programs, MOH Division of Health Informatics and Surveillance

Qualification:

  • Degree in computer science, information technology, statistics
  • Masters’ degree in Public health informatics, or epidemiology and biostatistics

Experience and skills

  • At least five years’ related experience, at national level, in health management information systems
  • At least three years’ experience in working with donor funded programs and teams
  • Technical expertise in development of computer programs, software and applications
  • Knowledge and experience of integrated disease surveillance and reporting (IDSR) guidelines and operating mechanisms
  • Experience in supporting diverse teams of non-technical people in use of data systems and data visualization software
  • Demonstrated skills in training/ orientating teams on data systems
  • Proven ability to multitask across various planning and implementation processes within a highly demanding environment.
  • Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the country
