Duties and Responsibilities:
As the global guardian of the UN Standards and Norms in Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, UNODC is mandated to support Member States in upholding the Rule of Law, promoting crime prevention and effective, fair, humane and accountable criminal justice systems in line with the United Nations standards and norms on crime prevention and criminal justice and other relevant international legal instruments.
- Outcome 1: Enabling the criminal justice system to fight corruption more effectively.
- Outcome 2: Improving administration and coordination of the justice sector
- Outcome 3. Increasing the competence, quality, and efficiency of criminal justice institutions
- Outcome 4. Enhancing access to legal aid, especially for individuals in vulnerable situations.
Qualification:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, international relations, criminal justice, human rights, political science, or criminology is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum five years of experience working in crime prevention and criminal justice, human rights and/or related fields is required.
- Experience in planning and producing interactive training materials and tools is required.
- Experience working with the United Nations, or a similar international organization, is desirable.
- Experience in working with EU funded projects is desirable.
- Experience working with criminal justice practitioners is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
