The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), formerly known as the United Nations Support Office for AMISOM (UNSOA), was established in 2009 by Security Council Resolution 1863, to provide logistics support to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). The current mandate of UNSOS is provided in the UN Security Council Resolution 2568 of 12 March 2021.

UNSOS Job Vacancy 2023
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall direction of the CSO implements security office management procedures and supervises Security unit at the duty station:
- Strategizes and develops effective security and contingency plans for a security unit and its operations;
- Conducts assessment of prevailing local security conditions, identifying security trends and advising UN personnel, project personnel and eligible dependents on security issues;
- Serves as a member of the Security Cell, implements and evaluates the security plan;
- Evaluates air, land and sea emergency evacuation capability; assists in the supervision of evacuation exercises and recommends appropriate action;
Qualification:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible security management experience, either within UN Security System, or a nationally recognized civilian or military entity is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first level University Degree
- At least two years experience and exposure at the international level and at least one year of experience in a conflict and post-conflict environment are desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required
