Position Purpose

  • The project manager will provide overall technical and programmatic oversight of the GHSA CDC funded program in Uganda. S/he will support the MOH to strengthen surveillance data management activities at national and sub national levels that include a centralized data warehousing, training MOH and district-based surveillance officers in data analysis, visualization and use, promoting data use at all levels. The incumbent will also manage the GF-TA and Ebola response projects. The successful candidate will operate in technical and managerial functions whilst overseeing the project
  • This is a contract position and is renewable annually based on availability of funding and scope of work.

Qualification:

  • Degree in medicine, health sciences or related field
  • Masters’ degree in Epidemiology, Statistics or similar field
  • Field Epidemiology Training Program graduate preferred
  • Must have experience in epidemiology

Experience and skills

  • At least five years’ related experience, at national level, in quantitative epidemiology and the implementation of public health surveillance, outbreak investigation and response in humanitarian settings
  • At least five years’ experience in leading and managing donor funded programs and teams
  • Technical expertise in disease surveillance of infectious diseases
  • Knowledge and experience of integrated disease surveillance and reporting (IDSR) guidelines and operating mechanisms
  • Experience working with Ministry of Health is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in analysis. Interpretation and visualization of data
  • Demonstrated skills in training/ orientating teams on active and passive surveillance
  • Proven ability to multitask across various planning and implementation processes within a highly demanding environment.
  • Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Epi-info, DHIS2 and other reporting platforms
  • Ability and willingness to travel field locations.
