The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations programme for human settlements and sustainable urban development. It was established in 1978 as an outcome of the first United Nations Conference on Human Settlements and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat I) held in Vancouver, Canada, in 1976. UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The mandate of UN-Habitat derives from the Habitat Agenda, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996.

UN Habitat Job Vacancy 2023
Responsibilities:
The consultant will work in the Data and Analytics Unit, under the direct supervision of its Chief and the Project Manager for Urban 2030. She/he will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Performs a wide range of office support and administrative functions.
- Monitors processes and schedules related to the unit’s outputs, products, tasks, etc.; where applicable, assists in the verification of receipt and accuracy of requisite documents, approvals, signatures, etc. to ensure compliance with relevant legal, financial and other requirements.
- Researches, compiles and organizes information and reference materials from various sources for reports, work plans, studies, briefings, meetings/conferences, etc.
- Responds to moderately complex information requests and inquiries (e.g. answers requests requiring file search, etc.), and as necessary, refers inquiries to appropriate personnel for handling.
Qualification & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional qualification in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or any related discipline is desired.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in the field of business administration or a related field is required.
Languages:
For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Although not a requirement, knowledge of any other UN language will be an advantage.
